“Its kind of like a man with no arms trying to travel across the country in a wheelchair when he suddenly discovers that the brake is stuck on.”
An accurate description of the feeling one got while trying to use our old server. I’m very thankful to both Dan and Georg for spending time and money to come out and lend us their expertise. Here is a link to a blog that Dan wrote describing what we got done.
As I write this, I’m on the plane to West Virginia. Apparently Larry and I won the United Airlines lottery-there is nobody in the seat between us! This flight is the reprieve between two very busy weeks. Last week was basically four days of server move occasionally interrupted by the saliva dripping down my cheek onto the pillow. Most nights I got back to the house after JJ was in bed and left before she got up. We finally finished at 4:00 a.m. Friday morning, which was fortunate because we still had a two hour drive ahead of us to get Georg to the airport by 9:30.
A short note to those of you who happen to administer Microsoft Exchange servers: when you upgrade to service pack 2, the anti-spam agents are removed.
This coming week is Tweakage. We arrive around midnight tonight, and we will leave to come back on Wednesday evening. Please pray that I am able to accurately explain Scout to the camps that are looking for registration software. Also pray that I will get some time to fellowship with others. In past years, I’ve had a hard time finding free time.
JJ and I saw this busy stretch coming and decided to schedule a staycation for the last three days of this month. Instead of spending lots of money to go on a vacation, we will be staying home and spending a little money on some fun things we can do near the house. We are thinking about camping out for one night. Even if we don’t go camping, we will probably go offroading in our jeep one of those days.
One more thing that you can make a matter of prayer: we got an e-mail from the county today. There is a little girl that will be going through the adoption process soon. We were sent an e-mail that told us a lot about her and asked us to consider whether we would like to put our names on the list of possible adoptive parents. (My understanding is that there weren’t many parents whose profiles matched this little girl-that’s why they are specifically asking people instead of just going with the computers matching method.) We said that we would like to be on that list. Now the county will gather all of the names of people who said yes and try to make a decision about which parents would best fit the unique needs of the child. I have absolutely no idea when we will hear more information, but I will let you know when we hear more.
Thanks for your prayer and support!
